Well folks, the countdown is on – officially less than a month until the greatest feast of the year in America – Thanksgiving! The temperatures here in South Texas have finally dropped, helping put us all in the holiday spirit! With just thirty days to go, the time has come to get your Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving plans in full swing!

Here are the Reiser household, we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving in two ways this year:

  1. Friendsgiving on November  11th. I’m expecting around twenty people, so we’ll be making a full bird for this celebration. As with most Friendsgivings, this will be a potluck, but keep your eyes on The Homemade Chef for my tricks, tips and recipe’s for Orange Rosemary Roasted Turkey, Wine and Cognac Gravy, Creamy and Delicious Mashed Potatoes, and of course, my famous five-ingredient traditional stuffing!
  2. Thanksgiving on November 22nd with my in-laws. With a smaller crowd, I won’t make a full bird as there is just too much leftover. This year I’m making a Turkey Roulade, a rolled whole turkey breast stuffed with delicious dressing, topped with savory gravy.

As the holidays draw closer, keep an eye on The Homemade Chef for more menu ideas, recipe’s, planning guides to make sure you throw a flawless party, and if you’re lucky, some table/flower decor ideas to bring you and your family joy and thanks. Spoiler alert: if you haven’t invited your guests, now is the time to get on it!
